The research group takes a combined theoretical and experimental approach to address the world's major challenges, including growing demand for natural resources (mainly energy & materials) and anthropogenic environmental impacts, through enhancement of existing processes and development of new materials and production routes in various industrial sectors: energy, water, and metals. Among many other research streams, the group conducts research on “Advanced recycling” and urban Mine of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) utilizing innovative recycling processes based on supercritical fluids and has published papers on the recycling of lithium, cobalt, nickel and manganese from end-of-life lithium-ion batteries.
