Ucore Rare Metals Inc

Description

The RapidSX Demonstration Plant is a key facility developed by Ucore Rare Metals Inc. to showcase and commercialize their innovative RapidSX technology for rare earth element (REE) separation. Located within Ucore's 465-square-meter RapidSX Commercialization and Demonstration Facility in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, the plant features a 52-stage RapidSX system capable of processing various mixed rare earth element feedstocks. The facility serves to demonstrate the commercial viability and efficiency of the RapidSX technology, which is a column-based solvent extraction method that is faster, more compact, and more environmentally friendly than conventional solvent extraction techniques. Independent assessments show that RapidSX can process REEs at least 3 times faster than conventional methods, with a smaller physical footprint. The plant incorporates over 600 feedback sensors, programmable logic controllers, and a central control station for efficient operation. Ucore completed the commissioning of the Demo Plant in December 2023, processing over one tonne of mixed rare earth feed in less than a week of run-time. This facility is a crucial step towards Ucore's goal of developing commercial-scale REE separation facilities, including the planned Louisiana Strategic Metals Complex, and represents a significant advancement in REE separation technology.
