Lion Electric Company is a Canadian-based manufacturer of commercial electric vehicles, headquartered in Saint-Jérôme, Quebec. Founded in 2011 as Lion Bus, the company rebranded as Lion Electric in 2017 and has since expanded its product line beyond school buses to include public transit buses, semi-trucks, bucket trucks, and garbage/refuse trucks. Lion Electric became a public company in May 2021, listed on both the Toronto Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange. The company has manufacturing facilities in Saint-Jérôme, Quebec and Joliet, Illinois, with a combined annual production capacity of around 5,000 vehicles. Lion Electric focuses on the urban medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicle market, positioning itself as a key player in the transition to zero-emission commercial vehicles in North America. The company continues to expand its market presence, with school buses currently making up the majority of its sales. As of 2023, Lion Electric had delivered 852 vehicles and reported revenue of US$253.5 million.
