Description

Lion Electric manufacture batteries at its recently inaugurated lithium-ion battery manufacturing factory in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada - the first facility of its kind in the country. This 175,000 square foot facility, located at the YMX International Aerocity of Mirabel, is designed to produce battery packs and modules for Lion's medium and heavy-duty electric vehicles. Production of the first battery pack was completed at the end of 2022, with final certification expected in the first half of 2023. The new facility is targeted to reach a production capacity of 1.7 gigawatt hours by the end of 2023, with plans to scale up to an annual production capacity of 5 gigawatt hours. At full capacity, this would enable Lion to electrify approximately 14,000 medium and heavy-duty vehicles per year. The first batteries produced at this facility will power Lion's LionC and LionD school buses and the Lion5 trucks. By vertically integrating the production of battery packs, Lion Electric aims to strengthen its leadership position in the North American electric transportation industry and optimize its product design and production efficiency.
