Molicel is the brand name of E-One Moli Energy (Canada) Ltd., a subsidiary of E-One Moli Energy Corporation, which is a major lithium-ion battery manufacturer with significant operations in Canada. In November 2023, E-One Moli announced plans to build a new $1.05-billion lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing plant in Maple Ridge, B.C., which will have an annual capacity to produce up to 135 million high-performance lithium-cell batteries for various applications, including electric vehicles, aerospace, consumer electronics, power tools, and medical devices. This expansion, supported by significant government funding, will make E-One Moli the largest private-sector employer in Maple Ridge, creating 350 new jobs and supporting 100 existing jobs. Molicel's presence in Canada dates back to 1977 when Moli Energy Ltd. was founded in Burnaby, B.C., as a pioneer in rechargeable lithium battery technology. The company is known for its high-performance battery cells and has partnerships with various industries, including electric motorcycle manufacturers like Damon Motors.
