College de Maisonneuve, located in Quebec, Canada, plays a significant role in the lithium-ion battery supply chain through its research and development efforts in battery recycling. The college is home to the Centre d'études des procedes chimiques du Quebec (CEPROCQ), which serves as a crucial research facility for the Recyclage Lithion project. This project aims to develop an innovative hydrometallurgical process for recycling lithium-ion batteries, with the ambitious goal of recycling 95% of battery components. CEPROCQ collaborates with other partners in the consortium, including Seneca, Appel à recycler, and Hydro-Québec's Centre d'excellence en électrification des transports et en stockage d'énergie (CEÉTSÉ). Through this work, Collège de Maisonneuve contributes to addressing key challenges in the lithium-ion battery supply chain, particularly in terms of sustainability and resource efficiency, by advancing the circular economy for battery materials.
