Description
The Vaudreuil plant, located in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region of Canada, is part of Rio Tinto's aluminum business. This region is responsible for close to half of Rio Tinto's global aluminum production The plant is involved in the production of aluminum, with activities such as smelting and refining.
In 2020, Rio Tinto announced upgrades to the Vaudreuil plant to improve safety and efficiency, indicating its continued involvement in aluminum production. The operations in the area include an alumina refinery; 5 wholly owned smelter; 6 hydropower plants; its Arvida Research and Development Centre (ARDC); the Aluminium Operations Centre; a rail network; and one port.
